Introducing Smart Groups: build rule-based product groups in seconds

The way a range is grouped online is not always the way it works best in store. A shopper at a digital kiosk near the tools aisle wants to see every power drill in one place, or a quick edit of offers under a set price. Until now, building those groupings often meant creating new collections in your e-commerce store and changing your website in the process. Smart Groups remove that step. Retailers can now create product groups unique to their Cloudshelf, built from conditions and rules, in a matter of seconds.

How Smart Groups work

Smart Groups sit within Cloudshelf Manager and use the Conditions option to decide which products belong in each group. Choose a condition, such as price or product type, set the rule, and Cloudshelf brings in every matching product from your catalogue. For example:

A sale group for every item under £50
A group for all products with the product type Power Drills

Because Smart Groups belong to your Cloudshelf only, your website collections stay exactly as they are. Nothing changes online.

Why this matters

Smart Groups give retailers direct control over how their endless aisle is presented in store, without involving the web team or adding kiosk-only collections to the online store. Seasonal promotions, price-point edits, and range-specific groups can be set up as soon as they are needed. Shoppers find relevant products faster, and every Cloudshelf can be shaped around a campaign, a department, or a single store's layout.

How to set it up

Smart Groups are available now in Cloudshelf Manager. Open your Cloudshelf, create a new Smart Group, add your conditions, and save. Your new group will appear on your Cloudshelf display alongside your existing product groups. Watch the tutorial video below for a step-by-step walkthrough.
